Changing Lives through Obedience

God is looking for people who will give their hearts and minds to Him. He’s not looking for a master plan or experts. God is looking for people He can use—people of prayer, people who are surrendered to and following Him, people who are sensitive to the Holy Spirit.

The eyes of the Lord search the whole earth in order to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him. 2 Chronicles 16:9 (NLT)

Don’t underestimate the value of everyday life. The most mundane things can have the greatest impact. During World War 2 the real world changers were not just the men on the battlefield—they were also the men under the ground digging up the coal to fuel the world. Then there are amazing women like Rosa Parks of the world, who take a stand for justice, or Mrs. Everest, Winston Churchill’s nanny, who cared for him when no one else did and took the time to tell him about Jesus. These people in their normal everyday lives shaped the future.

We have life moments to communicate Jesus to those around us who are part of our everyday lives. I’m convinced it happens so naturally as we walk with God and make room for him. It’s about knowing and being sensitive to his prompting. It’s about recognizing and obeying the voice of the Holy Spirit when we go to the supermarket, when you get petrol, at the office, with your kids at the playground—God loves doing extravagant things in what seems like common moments.

Our life is valuable. Often society won’t reinforce that—it will either belittle and undermine our life and mission or support our selflessness. Why don’t we just come to the feet of God and say “I’m here, please use me”. We just need to take the opportunities God gives us. It’s amazing what God can do with an obedient heart.

For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus. Philippians 1:6

God can use our obedience to change peoples’ lives.
